Ghana and Brazil explore areas of cooperation in chieftaincy

The Ministry of Chieftaincy and Traditional Affairs has agreed with Brazil to collaborate in areas of Chieftaincy and Traditional matters to promote economic, social and cultural relationship.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Ministry, signed by Mr Nelson Kofi Akatey, Public Relations Officer and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Thursday.

It said Ms Irene Vida Gala, the Brazilian Ambassador to Ghana had already visited the Minister, Dr Henry Seidu Daannaa to discuss areas of common interest for cooperation.

“At the end of the discussions Ghana and Brazil agreed to support each other in the land tenure system and agriculture.

According to the statement, Ms Gala said the two nations had a lot to share in agricultural development and land tenure system.

She commended Ghana for blending Chieftaincy system of traditional governance with general administration.

The statement said the Embassy would facilitate the process of revamping the Brazil House in James town in Accra to make it a tourist centre.

Dr Daannaa said there was the need for the two nations to embark on exchange programmes to acquaint themselves with historical and cultural facts.

He said it was significant to document oral tradition before it was lost to the young generation, the statement said.

This is the first time an ambassador from the republic of Brazil in Ghana has paid a working visit to the Ministry.
