Omanhene of Tuobodom sues Techiman Omanhene for kidnapping

Nana Baffour Asare II, Omanhene of Tuobodom in the Techiman North District of Brong-Ahafo Region, has sued Oseadeeyo Akumfi Ameyaw IV, Omanhene of Techiman Traditional area and four others for kidnapping, abduction, humiliation and false imprisonment.

Nana Baffour Asare II is praying a Sunyani High Court to award GH?1 million general damage against Oseadeeyo Akumfi Ameyaw, Nana Ameyaw of Techiman, Mr Gordon of Tuobodom, Okyeame Adu of Tuobodom and Barimah Obeng Ameyaw of Tuobodom.

In a writ of summons filed by counsel for the plaintiff, Nana Obiri Boahen of the “Enso Nyame Ye Chambers” in Sunyani, said the amount represents general damage for defamation, hospital expenses, drugs, medical treatment and legal costs for prosecuting the suit.

A copy of the writ made available to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani on Monday recounted on March 5, 2010, the plaintiff attended court proceedings at the Wenchi High Court with Mr Samuel Adjei, his secretary.

It explained while waiting for the commencement of the court proceedings, Nana Ameyaw and Okyeame Adu arrived in a ford vehicle, forcibly bundled Nana Asare II and his secretary into the vehicle, tied their hands at their backs, gagged their mouths and subjected them to severe beatings.

According to the writ, the two defendants amongst others, made uncomplimentary and derogatory remarks about the plaintiff.

It explained further Nana Asare II was however sent to the Techiman palace at Techiman where he (plaintiff) was stripped naked and was subjected to severe beatings by the defendants.

The writ said while the defendants were planning to behead Nana Asare II and his secretary, some police men emerged at the Techiman palace, rescued and sent them to Sunyani where they were detained at the Sunyani Municipal Police command and eventually granted bail.
