Court jails robber 40 years

A Circuit Court in Accra on Tuesday sentenced James Nii Aryeetey Brown, unemployed to 40 years imprisonment for robbery.

Brown robbed a trader of his money totaling GH¢2,230, a mobile phone, a pair of trousers, a hand bag, belt and a pair of sandals.

He pleaded guilty and prayed for leniency.

The court presided over by Mr Francis Obiri convicted him on his plea noting that he had no defence for his conduct.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Reindolph Agyemang, said at about 0430 hours on February 27, last year, Brown in the company of five others including two remand prisoners at Odawna Train Station robbed Mr Jonas Nyarkotey, the complainant of GH¢2,230,

The remand prisoners are Abdallah Yussif Ansah and Moses Nana Asiedu aka Jail man,

After robbing Mr Nyarkotey of his money, the gang slashed his palm and took away his pair of jeans trousers, a pair of trousers, sandals and a mobile phone.

Brown and his accomplices escaped until March 14, when they were apprehended in connection with another crime and sent to the Kaneshie Police Station Cells where his accomplices on remand identified him.
