Ghanaians in Madison celebrate Ghana’s 56th independence anniversary

It was all joy and merry making when Ghanaians in and around Madison Wisconsin, USA gathered on March 26 to celebrate Ghana’s 56th independence anniversary. The 200 capacity room was full to the brim and colorful Ghanaian colours were visibly present all around the Eagle Heights Community Center! Clad in rich kente cloth, fugu, agbada, and other beautiful traditional clothes, attendees were treated to sumptuous Ghanaian delicacies and great African music.

The occasion was graced by the Board of Directors of the African Association of Madison and the African Women Association, Members of the African Community in Madison as well as a 25 member entourage from the Ghana Milwaukee Association. The occasion was used to honor distinguished members of the Ghanaian community namely: Dr. Kobina Amuah (immediate Past President of the Association) and Atimevu (a Ghanaian cultural performance group).
