Clergyman calls on Government and opposition parties to unite

Frank Konadu, Catechist in-charge of the Ascension Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Fanmilk-Ablekuma, Accra, congregation, has called on the government and opposition parties to come together and find lasting solution to the country’s socio-economic problems.

He said: “the ruling National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party and other opposition parties, should take advantage of the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and unite and tackle ignorance, unemployment, illiteracy, diseases and poverty confronting the people”.

Mr Konadu appealed to opposition parties in an Easter message to criticise the government constructively and honestly, devoid of malice and the government to humbly accept genuine criticism.

He called for church-state cooperation towards nation building and appealed to Christendom not to extricate itself from national politics, but to offer positive suggestions to politicians towards good governance and rule of law.

Mr Konadu said: “Inasmuch as Jesus Christ suffered and died on the cross for humankind, individuals and leaders entrusted with responsibilities should also dedicate themselves to working for the poor and needy in society”.

He said progress and happiness depended on justice and peace and appealed to family heads to use the occasion of Easter to settle all disputes amicably.
