Ashanti Police powerless against armed robbers – NPP member

THE ASHANTI REGIONAL POLICE COMMAND HAS LOST THE FIGHT AGAINST ARMED ROBBERY March 27th, 2013, Kumasi

In recent times, the Ashanti Region, and Kumasi to be specific, has been overwhelmed with incessant armed robbery, gangsterism and, indeed, acts that can best be prescribed as terrorisim.

This has engaged media attention and has been a source of worry to all well meaning persons who have business or economic and social interest in the region.

Strangely enough, the Regional Police Commander DCOP Gyenin has, through his utterrances in various press conferences organised by the Police Command and addressed by himself in respect of this issue has given us cause to believe that, there seems to be some powers that be behind such acts which has rendeded him incapicitated and therefore unable to nip the sourge of thuggery in the bud.

I wish to humbly by this to demand from the Regional Commander of Ashanti Region to provide us with those so-called “powerful” persons behind these “terrorists” who have succeeded in putting fear in the populace and have made them lose hope in the ability of the police to combat this menace.

Finally, I will call on the Police High Command who will have to do us a whole lot of good as a matter of urgency to embark on a massive shake-up in the current Ashanti Regional Police Command either through transfers or any appropriate action to restore the lost confidence in the current men and women at the helm of affairs since the Ashanti Police Command has lost the fight.
