Nkawkaw PTA purchases generator for the school

The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of Nkawkaw Senior High School has bought a 50-horsepower generator costing GHS78, 980.00 to the school to enhance effective teaching and learning.

The chairman of the PTA, Nana Obuni Kwegyan III who made this known at a PTA meeting at the school at Nkawkaw on Tuesday, said parents contributed GH¢500.00 per child per term for one year to buy the item.

He said the Association is building two-storey teachers’ quarters, rehabilitation of the boys’ dormitory and computers for the school’s computer laboratory.

The Headmaster, Twum Ampofo Owusu, said the school had taken measures to curb indiscipline such as escaping to town, stealing and indulging in amorous activities among others.

He said 120 out of the 859 students who registered for this year’s West African School Certificate Examination (WASCE) had not been attending regular classes and urged parents to advice their children to concentrate on their studies.

Mr Owusu said the school presented 404 candidates for last year’s WASCE out of which 287 passed in all eight subjects.

The board chairman of the school, Kingsley Osei, urged parents to have interest in their children’s education and pay their fees regularly.
