Bawumia should check his tyres before travelling – Ayariga

Minister of Information and Media Relations, Mahama Ayariga, suspects the near fatal accident involving Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on Sunday was due to negligence on the part of the victim.

He has therefore advised Dr Bawumia to constantly maintain his vehicles and ensure that everything is in order before embarking on any journey.

“I think this is an accident, and I am told that it occurred as a result of tyre burst; so the cause is known. Next time they are travelling they should check their tyres and make sure that the cars have good tyres and they will travel safe and return safely if they take all the other cautions you take when you are travelling on highways when you are driving,” he said.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Top Story, the minister belittled claims by the opposition NPP that President Mahama and operatives of the national security are plotting to assassinate NPP’s vice presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

“I think that when you have a busy schedule, and you have problems to solve such as making sure that the systems, and institutions and services of our country run efficiently, as the president you will not have time responding to those matters,” he said.

Mahama Ayariga however expressed government’s regret and wished Dr Bawumia well, adding that government is ready to support him in any way possible.

Meanwhile, General Secretary of the NPP, Owusu Afriyie, insisted on Top Story that the party has carefully weighed the situation and concluded that the president has a hand in the accident.
