NPP group hit streets of Kumasi

The “Free Education Prayer Group” of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) organized a peaceful protest march in Kumasi as the party battles in the Supreme Court to overturn the presidential poll results declared by the Electoral Commission (EC).

They held burning candles and placards with messages like, “We hate calculated delays of judgment”, “God, grant our judges the wisdom of Solomon”, “The battle is still the Lord’s”, “Awofo resu (Parents are wailing)”, “Where is our free SHS?”, and “Judges must be bold and fair”.

The protest numbers swelled as they got to the Adum Central Business District. Many traders and artisans, who had no electricity to do their business joined in.

Mr Andy Owusu, National Coordinator of the Group, said they were turning to God to save the nation from the throes of bad governance, insensitivity and ineptitude.

They would continue to use prayers, fasting and candle street procession to seek God’s intervention throughout the period of the adjudication of the election petition.

He said they would continue to ask for God’s gift of wisdom and boldness for the Justices of the Supreme Court to act fairly and without fear or favour.
