MTTU announces closure of certain roads on Independence Day

The Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) on Monday said as part of efforts to ensure free flow of traffic orderliness at the Black Star Square on independence day, certain roads would be closed to motorists.

The roads include the 28th February Road – from the CEPS headquarters to castle junction, Osu cemetery traffic light on Lokko street and Castle road- from Avenue intersection to Osu cemetery traffic light.

A statement issued in Accra by S.K Tetteh, said to avoid chaotic traffic situation only vehicles with state protocol permits and those that belong to essential agencies would be allowed access through the blocked roads to enter into the inner perimeter of the Square.

“Traffic personnel will be deployed at all critical intersections and points to manage and control the traffic,” it noted.

The statement noted that personnel would assist motorists onto alternative routes and direct those attending the event to the appropriate car park.

“There will be a towing vehicle on standby and motorists who park indiscriminately will suffer a penalty by paying for the towing fee,” it added.
