NCCE re-launches project citizen

Government has been challenged to engage the youth, who form the majority of the population in major decision making processes in country.

The call was made by the Deputy Chairperson of Operations of the National Commission on Civic Education at the re-launch of Project Citizen in Accra.

Project Citizen is an adaptation from a United States model and has been implemented by the National Commission on Civic Education for the past 5 years.

The commission has found it necessary to re-launch the program to increase public awareness of its existence and to formally inaugurate an Advisory Board.

According to the Commission, Project Citizen fits perfectly into its mandate of equipping the youth to effectively participate in local and national governance, thereby strengthening Ghana’s constitutional democracy.

She says the Project aims at training the youth to be active and to engage citizens in important issues that will benefit the communities and the nation.

Motivational speaker and entrepreneur Albert Ocran urged the students to be of good behavior and eschew the habit of cheating.

Students from various schools participated in the re-launch of the project and presented an action plan on how to save the environment.
