Students advised to seek guidance in selecting courses

William Agyapong Quaittoo, Member of Parliament (MP) for Akyem Oda Constituency, has asked students to seek guidance from experienced personalities, in the selection of academic programmes.

“Some students make mistakes in selecting subjects because they do not know exactly what they are capable of doing. They must seek counseling to be able to choose their career courses correctly”, he said.

Mr Quaittoo made the appeal at a Career and Relationship Enhancement Conference, dubbed: “Breaking the Barriers of Success 2013”, held by the Church of Pentecost, at Akyem Oda.

The MP expressed worry that some youth graduate from school without any specific plan to achieve their objectives in life.

Mr Quaittoo appealed to parents to supervise the behavior and studies of their children and urged schools to strengthen their guidance and counseling units, so that students could be guided in choosing programmes for their career.

Oheneba Ntim Barimah, a health crusader on Oman FM, private radio station, advised the youth to eat balanced diet to keep them healthy.

He cautioned them against early marriage and to seek God’s guidance in choosing their life partners, when they become adults.

The conference is held annually by the Ambassadors of the Pentecost English Worship Centre, the youth wing of the Akyem Oda New Town District of the Church of Pentecost.
