Minority will cooperate with new Ministers – Dominic Nitiwul

Deputy Minority leader of Parliament, Dominic Nitiwul, has stated that the minority “not availing itself to participate in the vetting of ministers does not mean that we are not going to cooperate with those ministers”. He said the Minority has not boycotted parliament but will continue to cooperate in parliament to move the nation forward.

“We have said that any minister who brings a bill to parliament, because the effect of that thing will stay longer than the tenure of the president we will participate and interrogate in it” he said.

Mr. Nitiwul’s comments follows earlier remarks by Alfred Agbesi, Deputy Majority leader of Parliament that Ghanaians should hold the Minority accountable for boycotting sittings at the Appointments Committee.

Speaking on Citi Fm’s Eye Witness news, Dominic Nitiwul indicated that “anything that will not be present when President Mahama is not President by virtue of the decision of the Supreme Court we will not participate in it.”

He stated that the comments of the Deputy Majority leader, Alfred Agbesi, would incite Ghanaians against the New Patriotic Party (NPP)…“What Alfred Agbesi said was a way to incite the people of Ghana.”

He said the minority does not wish that the country comes to a halt.

The NPP Minority has boycotted all activities in Parliament which in their view will legitimize the presidency of John Dramani Mahama, following a decision by three members of the party to contest the election results at the Supreme Court, which named the president winner.
