Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital lacks equipment

The Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital is in dire need of medical equipment to enable the hospital to function effectively as the only referral hospital serving the Western Region.

Dr. Paul Ntodi, Medical Director of the Hospital, said the annual review meeting of the hospital that the lack of vital equipment and instruments was affecting quality healthcare delivery.

He praised the doctors and nurses for their commitment and dedication that had enabled them to brace the challenges. Dr Ntondi said inadequate and obsolete laboratory equipment; ultrasound machine and audiogram were a few of equipment that the hospital is in need of.

He said the hospital had not seen any major maintenance since its establishment and that the topography of the hospital was not favourable for cardiac patients and those who access X-rays and other services.
