PURC warns GUWC of sanctions if …

The Ghana Urban Water Company will face sanctions if it fails to go by its own water rationing schedule.

The Company has started rationing water in the Western part of Accra due to repair works on the Weija Treatment Plant.

Residents in places such as Dansoman, Gbawe and Sakaman will have to store water for the next six months. But the utility regulator, Public Utilities and Regulatory Commission (PURC) is demanding a full plan for the rationing by Friday.

It is also asking the company to publish the rationing time table for the benefit of the affected residents.

Head of Public Affairs at the PURC, Nana Yaa Jantuah told XYZ News the PURC expects the Water Company to fully comply with their demands.

“We want them to bring that communication out… If they don’t do it we will sanction them,” she warned.
