Supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) have been asked to accept the outcome of the Supreme Court on petition filed against the Electoral Commissioner and President John Mahama by NPP over results of 2012 presidential election.
Nana Okotwere Bekoe, IV, Apagyahene of Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Area, who made the call when he was speaking to journalists at Ada in the Gomoa West of the Central Region, said the country needed peace for national development.
He cautioned supporters of the two political parties not to take the law into their hands but to allow the state institutions to work to promote justice and rule of law in the country.
Nana Okotwere Bekoe, who is also the chief of Gomoa Ada, appealed to government to repair roads in Gomoa West to facilitate economic activities.
The chief said he has instituted and an education endowment fund to support needy but brilliant students in the area, to enable them to continue their education to the tertiary level.
Nana Okotwere Bekoe appealed to the Gomoa West District Assembly and Ghana Education Service, to come out with initiatives to check school dropouts. On 28 December, 2012, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, NPP presidential candidate for Election 2012, Dr Mamudu Bawumiah, Running mate to Nana Akufo-Addo, and Mr Jake Obetsebe Lamptey, National Chairman of the party, filed the petition.
