Angles Orphanage Proprietress in court for causing damage

The Proprietress of Angles of Hope Orphanage, Esi Antobam has been granted a GH¢20,000 bail by Tarkwa Circuit Court for pulling down 22 concrete pillars valued GH¢1,585.00 belonging to Tarkwa Jehovah Witnesses Movement.

Her plea was not taken and she will re-appear on February 7.

Prosecuting Police Chief Inspector Edward Paddy told the court presided over by Mr Samuel Obeng Diawuo that the complainant is a member of the Trustee of Tarkwa Jehovah Witnesses Movement.

He said at about 0900 hours on January 5,while members of the Movement including the complainant and others were holding their annual convection on their land near the church building, the accused engaged the services of two people to pull down the pillars.

Inspector Paddy said Esi is claiming ownership of a portion of the land behind the Tarkwa Municipal Treasury office that shares common boundary with the Church premises.

He said a report was made to the police by authorities of the Movement leading to the arrest of the accused.
