‘You Are All Dead’- Ex Convict Threatens

An attempt by an ex-convict, to eliminate his purported ‘enemies’ who facilitated his incarceration has been foiled.

True to his word, Kweku Fred Agyei, 35, swung into action when he fired two warning shots which made some family members to take cover.

Agyei had been earlier jailed for inflicting cutlass wounds on his brother.

A visibly shaken sister ran as fast as her legs could carry her to the police who responded swiftly to avert disaster.

Agyei was arrested and arraigned before the Akim Swedru Circuit Court on Monday and was charged for threat of death, attempting to commit suicide and possessing fire arm without lawful authority.

The court, presided over by Mr Yaw Atta Sampong, convicted him on his own plea of guilty and subsequently sentenced him to a six-year jail term.

Detective Inspector Kwaku Appiah told the court that about 10am on December 10, last year, Agyei who stays in the same house with the complainant, Stella Agyei Mensah at Akim Abenase in the Eastern Region, accused her of being responsible for his incarceration some time ago.

He therefore, threatened to kill her and the daughter and later blow himself up.

When the police arrived, a ‘charged’ Kweku threatened to kill anyone who came near as he held the loaded gun (locally manufactured) at his chest ready to pull the trigger.

The court was told that the police took the risk to approach Agyei as they tried to convince him not to take his own life.

The prosecution said Agyei tried to pull the trigger but the gun did not fire.

Sensing danger, he threw the pistol in the bush and escaped but was arrested later and charged for court.
