KATH receives retina imagining equipment

Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) has taken delivery of a £35,000.00 Retina Imaging Equipment to enhance the quality of eye-care services.

This was a donation from Ashanti Development, a United Kingdom (UK)-based charity. It is the second time the charity has made a donation to the hospital, a major referral facility. It had earlier presented to it 100 boxes of adult’s pampers.

Mrs Matha Appiah Boadu, one of the Directors, said this was their contribution towards efforts at improving the health delivery to the people.

Professor Ohene Adjei, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of KATH, said they were grateful for the donation.

It brings to two, the number of its kind in the country, and happens to be the first to be installed in the northern sector.

He said he would personally monitor its efficient use and make sure that it was handled with utmost care.

The charity has been engaged in the building of schools and clinics, provision of boreholes and washrooms for some deprived communities in the Asante Mampong Municipality.

Added to these, is the payment of the health insurance premium for the poor and the vulnerable. Among the beneficiary communities, are Bemma, Kwabrem, Nsuase, Abonkosu, Gyatiase and Adutwam.
