Justice Dotse, one of the nine judges sitting on the election fraud petition at the Supreme Court today denied rumours of his affiliation with the main opposition New Patriotic Party.
He plainly told the open court that he has never been an elective or non-elective member of the NPP in the Volta region as speculated.
Justice Dotse was responding to a news story attributed to a member of the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) legal team, Abraham Amaliba, in which the latter was quoted as imputing that one of the justices had affiliations with the NPP although his name was not mentioned.
Justice Dotse said although his name was not mentioned, he found it necessary to react to the allegation. He said he will recuse himself from the Bench if the NDC legal team member proves his allegation.
The nine member panel resumed sitting today (Wednesday) to consider the ruling NDC’s application to be joined in the election fraud petition filed by NPP Flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo and two others challenging the results of the 2012 elections.
The sitting had been adjourned indefinitely following the NPP legal team’s opposition to the composition of the panel. The legal team later withdrew its challenge concerning the panel thus prompting today’s hearing.
