Traffic back to normal after President’s swearing-in ceremony

Just a day after the swearing-in ceremony of President John Dramani Mahama in Accra, some of the principal streets of Accra that were chocked up with vehicular and human traffic are back to normal.

The roads that were closed for the swearing- in ceremony were the 28th February Road from the CEPS Headquarters to the Castle Junction, the Osu cemetery traffic light on the Lokko Street, the Osu Cemetery (Starlets 95 Road)-Ministries Traffic light and the Castle Road from the AU circle to the Osu Cemetery Traffic light.

A visit by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at about 10.00 hours on Tuesday revealed that, vehicular traffic is flowing after the police Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) had declared the closed roads re-opened for use.

Some of the drivers who spoke to the GNA expressed their happiness about the free flow of traffic.

Mr. Yaw Boakye, a driver who plies the Osu-Tema station route said due to the closure of some major roads they could not realize their expected sales.

He was, however, optimistic that with the free flow of traffic on Tuesday, transport owners would be able to make up for what they lost on Monday.

Surprisingly, the human traffic that also hit the capital city yesterday had returned to normal, as there is free movement of people
