Nanahemaa Asieduaa Atuahene , a public health lecturer and the first Nkosoohemaa of Akyem Apedwa, has appealed to mothers to keep their child appointments and follow-up visits to clinics to ensure a healthy family.

She encouraged mothers to attend the needed healthcare services for child growth monitoring, immunization schedules and other pediatric care services.

Nanahemaa Atuahene said this when she organized a pre-Christmas party for children under five years and other vulnerable groups in the community.

At the party which is an annual affair instituted by the Nkosohemaa, gifts given to those present include cloth, feeding bowls, rice, meat and soap.

As an expert in Population and Reproductive Health, Nanahemaa said education is a concrete tool for family enhancement, local and national development.”

She said a soft credit scheme is almost in place to help rural market women and small and medium enterprises to finance their businesses

Dr Frema Atuahene, a medical doctor also present at the ceremony, said female education was very important and that Nkosohemaa had given the assurance to continue to support and encourage female education.

Madam Georgina Agyemang Duah, an Assistant Director of the Ghana Education Service, advised the audience to be active in decision making processes in their various homes.

Ms Ruth Owusu, a mother, on behalf of the beneficiaries thanked the Nkosohemaa for the kind gesture.
