First Lady, Lordina Dramani Mahama, has in a Christmas message called on Ghanaians to look out for people who may be disadvantaged, and help them to also celebrate the Christmas and New Year festivities.
She said that it was easy for individuals and families to forget their neighbours, in need, children in orphanages and others in hospitals.
Mrs. Mahama said a return to the days of old, when families were interested in what happened to their neighbours’ children would contribute greatly to tackling some of the challenges that confronted the value system as a country.
The First Lady, who is on holidays with her husband, President John Mahama, and their children, in South Africa, said the yuletide offered Ghanaians another opportunity to unite, come together and care for each other.
“Over the years I have spent every single Christmas with inmates of various orphanages across the country and also other vulnerable groups and I know that despite government interventions, we must also support each other,” she said in the message released by the Ministry of Information.
Mrs. Mahama asked Ghanaians to also use the occasion of the yuletide to pray and thank God for His blessings over Ghana and for the peaceful and successful elections on December 7.
