National Service Personnel clean Damang market

As part of preparations towards this year’s Christmas festivities, national service personnel at Goldfields Ghana, Damang mine, in collaboration with the community affairs department of Zoomlion company Limited and Damang Water and Sanitation Committee have embarked on a clean-up exercise at Damang market in the Prestea Huni/Valley District.

The exercise also forms part of the employee volunteering programme of the company which allows its staff to give their time, expertise and other resources to support projects of value to the community in its operational areas.

The team cleaned the market place, disinfected choked gutters and evacuated refuse heaps.

In a short address, the community affairs and public relations manager of the company, Mr. Yaw Britwum Opoku noted that to ensure healthy community-company relations which was essential for community development, Goldfields Ghana, Damang mine, had put in place some interventions to improve on its relationship with stakeholder communities.

He said management of the company intended to involve employees in assisting with the development of their stakeholder communities.

Mr. Opoku urged the market women to ensure that they went about their trading activities in a clean environment in order to safeguard the health of their customers.

He said as the company had demonstrated a high level of commitment in discharging its core duties, it was equally important for the people to complement its efforts by keeping their environment clean.

Mr. Eric Doe Ackuayi on behalf of the service personnel appealed to the people of Damang to keep their surroundings clean to avoid the outbreak of diseases.
