We’ll aid the police to arrest rude supporters- Akomea

Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akomea, has cautioned aggrieved followers of the party to desist from attacking people they perceive as opponents.

He says party supporters who defy the directive and perpetuate any act of violence would be handed over to the police to face prosecution.

Speaking to Peace FM in Accra, Nana Akomea insisted that the only way the NPP could achieve its main object in pursuing the results of the election in court is to respect the rights of individuals and different shades of opinions.

“Inasmuch as we agree with them [supporters] in protesting against the electoral results, it is also fair and appropriate to advice them not to engage in violence,” the out-going Member of Parliament for Okaikoi South emphasized.

The NPP has challenged the outcome of last Friday’s general election and have accused the Electoral Commission and the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) of wrongdoings.

The incumbent President, John Dramani Mahama, according to the EC, romped home with 50.70%, compared to NPP candidate Nana Akufo-Addo’s 47.7 per cent of the total valid votes cast.
