Mr George Omane, National Chairman of the Association of Methodist Men’s Fellowships, has underlined the need to do more to whip up the enthusiasm of the youth in the church and encouraged them to join the fellowship.
They should through mentoring and joint programmes aid the young people to become interested in its activities.
This, he said, was necessary to help strengthen the fellowship, as most of its members were ageing. Mr Omane was speaking at the inauguration of the Calvary Methodist Men’s Fellowship at Beposo in the Bosomtwe District.
He urged them to be abreast of the goals of the fellowship and mobilize the men in the church to assist in evangelism as well as the realization of the vision and mission of Methodism. Mr Omane noted that there were many societies in the Brodekwano Circuit of the Church that were without the men’s fellowship and therefore challenged them to do everything to establish a strong presence in the Circuit.
Mr Edward Asante-Nketia, Kumasi Diocesan Chairman of the Fellowship, asked them to offer effective leadership and work hard to expand the membership.
He said as part of efforts to improve the welfare of members, the Fellowship had established a group term insurance policy to cater for the widows and children of departed members.
The Reverend Kwasi Kyei, Minister in-charge of the Church, called for co-operation between the leaders and members of the fellowship and urged them to exhibit qualities that would attract others.
He reminded them to pursue the path of true Christians and exhibit virtues which would lead them to “eternal and everlasting life in Christ”.
