Business activities stop in Kumasi

Business activities for once had virtually stopped in the Kumasi Metropolis, as a number people headed to the polling centres to cast their ballot.

A visit by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) to the Adum Central Business District, Kejetia and various markets showed that almost all shops were locked up.

The usual hassle and bustle was completely absent and so was heavy traffic that often clogged the roads, especially on Fridays.

Some residents, who spoke to the GNA, described the situation as unusual and said it was an indication that the people were really eager to cast their vote in this election.

Anxious voters could be seen in long meandering queues at polling centres with barely an hour left for voting.

Generally, all had been smooth and orderly, except for few areas where the verification machines slowed down the process.
