Akufo-Addo is not a statesman, he cannot be trusted- Anyidoho

Commutations Director at the Presidency, Koku Anyidoho, has said that the 2012 Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo-Addo on Tuesday lost his status as a statesman, after addressing a section of the public in Kumasi.

He said Nana Addo’s body language and delivery at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology on that fateful day smacks of desperation and arrogance.

Mr. Anyidoho, who was speaking on Adom fm’s Dwaso Nsem morning show programme, said President John Mahama on the other hand showed maturity and exemplary leadership when he mounted the podium to address the gathering.

“Nana Addo who started this violent talk has refused to come out neither to apologize nor to call his followers to order… Nana Addo has failed to call his people to order…he talks about every sector committing to peace whiles he himself has not done so.”

Along that, Mr Anyidoho submitted that until the NPP flag bearer comes public to render an unqualified apology for his “All-Die-Be-Die” mantra, Ghanaians will never consider him as a serious politician.

He described the NPP flagbearer as a man with a very divisive character who could not be trusted with the destiny of the country hence the need to vote against his candidature.

He further chastised Nana Akufo-Addo for saying the President Mahama must show leadership saying, “I don’t understand what Akufo-Addo meant by President Mahama must demonstrate leadership; Mahama has consistently shown leadership and gone beyond the rhetoric that Nana Addo is talking about.”

Eight presidential candidates on Tuesday appended their signatures to an electoral pact committing them to avoid all manner of acts, including impunity and injustice that could compromise the prevailing peace in the country.

The high-level meeting was organized by the National Peace Council and the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
