A 34 year-old Ghanaian based in South Africa, Daniel Adjetey Adjei, was arrested on Thursday at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra for attempting to smuggle 195 South African passports and 29 Swaziland passports into the country.

After Arriving on a flight from South Africa, Adjei refused to have his luggage examined at the Customs checkpoint, claiming he had already gone through the ”Green Tunnel”, the police was quoted as saying.

”This aroused the suspicion of the officer and after a thorough examination the passports were found in the suitcase,” police said. Adjei, who claimed to be a cobbler, had been living in South Africa since 1996 and claimed the passports were given to him by a man at the airport in South Africa to be given to someone in Ghana but he could not remember his name.
