Osafo-Maafo off for World Bank meeting

The Minister of Finance, Mr Yaw Osafo-Maafo, is leading a government delegation to attend the annual IMF-World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington, US.

A statement signed in Accra on Wednesday by Mr J.A. Yamoah, Chief Director of the ministry, said the minister would attend the meeting of the development committee of the G-24, a committee of developing countries. The Minister of Finance represents Ghana on the G-24.

The statement said he would hold several meetings with officials of the World Bank and the IMF.

He would meet Mr Calisto Madavo, Vice-President (Africa) of the World Bank, Mr Shengman Zhang, Managing Director, World Bank, Mr Horst Kohler, Managing Director of the IMF and Mr Hugh Bredenkam, Assistant Director of the IMF.

Mr Osafo-Maafo would also attend a conference on Foreign Credit Rating Agency being sponsored by the US Treasury Department.

Other members of the delegation include Dr Paul Acquah, Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Akoto Osei, Special Adviser to the Ministry, Dr M. Bawumia, Special Assistant to the Governor, Mr Kwabena Oku-Afari, Principal Economics Officer of the Ministry of Finance. The delegation would be away until April 28. — GNA.
