Tehoda drags IGP to court

DSP Gifty Mawuenyega Tehoda, a former Deputy Head of the Police Commercial Crimes Unit, has filed an application for injunction against the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Paul Tawiah Quaye, from taking any further action against her.

The court, presided over by Justice Kofi Essel Mensah, has adjourned hearing to January 23, 2013.

She had earlier brought a contempt of court application against the Chief Superintendent of Police in charge of the Rapid Deployment Unit, Nantogmah Yakubu Aggrey and Chairman of the Central Disciplinary Board, COP Rose Bio Atinga, for allegedly disrespecting the court.

Lawyer for the plaintiff, Ephraim Vordoagu explained to Citi Fm, “what we brought before the court was an interim injunction to indjunct the Police Service or the IGP from taking any further steps in relation to the purported dismissal of our client.”

He added that “the Attorney General has just entered appearance and they were represented by a Senior State Attorney by name, Cyril Ackolaste who indicated to the court that our docket was just assigned to him yesterday and that he needed some time. So we thought it wise to have that one adjourned to 23rd.”

DSP Tehoda was dismissed from the Ghana Police Service for her involvement in the cocaine turned baking soda saga which hit the Ghana Police Service some months ago.

She has since been making frantic efforts to be reinstated into the Service.
