President John Dramani Mahama has called on the people of Bawku to bury their differences and forge ahead and pave way for the initiation of massive development projects in the coming years.
He said: “Your continuous engagement in conflicts and other forms of misunderstanding will not only stall the development progress of the area, but will also stifle all government initiatives that could accelerate growth and development.”
President Mahama made this call on Monday when he addressed a rally at Bawku as part of his three-day campaign tour of the Upper East Region.
The president also addressed similar rallies at Garu, Tempane, Worinyanga, Pusiga, Binduri, Zebilla and Bolgatanga, where he outlined government’s development plans for the next four years.
He said conflicts were destructive and retrogressive and advised the people to ignore it and consider themselves as one people with a common destiny that could propel them to achieve their development aspirations.
The President said there was no difference between Mamprusis and Kusasis in their daily endeavours and should therefore not perpetuate conflicts that could undermine peace and unity.
Mr Mark Woyongo, Upper East Regional Minister appealed to the electorate to avoid voting ‘skirt and blouse’ as that could be tantamount to ‘tying somebody’s hands and sending him to a boxing ring to fight an opponent.”
He said the first four years of the NDC had been beneficial to all Ghanaians and the next four years would further bring about more development in all the regions.
