NDC to react to Pastor Otabil’s accusations

The campaign team of the governing National Democratic Congress is set to release a statement later today, reacting to the news conference addressed by General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church, Pastor Mensa Otabil.

Dr. Mensa Otabil on Monday broke his silence over the use of his preachings by the NDC for purposes he described as mischievous, immoral, Machiavellian, and evil.

He said the audio tapes on which he appears to have taken a stance on certain contentious political issues, were not only doctored and manipulated but also “that the sound bites that have been played with my voice have been taken totally out of context; in some cases phrases from different messages I have preached over the years with no relationship to one another have been mischievously pieced together to create the impression that I was making a current contribution on the ongoing political debate.”

Pastor Otabil called on President John Mahama to rise up and speak on this issue because “the perpetrators of these blatant acts of impunity are largely affiliates and surrogates of your party.”

A key member of the Mahama 2012 Campaign, Ms Hannah Tetteh told Joy News the team will make its views on the pastor’s comments known in a statement later today.
