Abuakwa North women hail Victor Smith

The NDC Parliamentary Candidate for the Abuakwa North Constituency in the Eastern region is gradually cruising to victory as more electorate in the constituency are openly showing support to his leadership style and quest for sustainable development for the area; latest being the extension of credit facilities to traders who did not benefit from the MASLOC program in the constituency.

The women, numbering about four hundred have all vowed to vote for Ambassador Victor Smith, who is also the Regional Minister, to ensure he represent them in parliament to enable him facilitate more development and initiatives to improve living conditions in the area though not all of them benefited from his credit extension program.

They stated categorically that the NDC candidate’s presence on the Abuakwa North political scene and his initiatives aimed at enriching lives of the people is incomparable in the constituency’s history, adding that nobody has drawn attention of governments to the area as Victor Smith has done in less than a year.

“None of the MPs we have had in Abuakwa North can boast of facilitating projects and initiatives such as the Daasebre Nana Baomah Vocational Training School, the Asafo – Apedwa, Nobi, and Fisher roads construction, and the newly constructed New Tafo Post Office and ICT Center and credit facility either before becoming an MP or even after we have voted for them, but Victor Smith is making it happen,” Veronica, a seamstress and beneficiary of the credit facility stated emphatically and challenged anybody to counter her claims.

The credit facility of at least GH¢200 is interest free with two months grace period, after which beneficiaries have ten months to pay, was targeted at market women, petty traders and operators of small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs) to help expand their businesses and improve their living conditions as well as their dependants.

Ambassador Smith on his part said people seeking political office must demonstrate their ability to facilitate developmental projects and initiatives which will improve their living standard and not “dishing out small small pennies during campaign period”.

The Eastern Regional Minister further urged the women to vote for him and President John Mahama both on the number one slot of the ballot paper on December 7th to enable the constituency benefit from more sustained development under the Better Ghana Agenda.
