Ghana needs the involvement of all – President Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama at the weekend endorsed the need for Christians to take up political positions to help accelerate the development of the country.

He debunked the notion that politics was a dirty game, because in his view politics sought to provide effective leadership to help find lasting solutions to the numerous problems confronting the people.

President Mahama made the call when he joined the Communities Two and Five Prince of Peace Presbyterian Church during a thanks giving service to round off activities marking their golden jubilee celebration.

The celebration had as its theme: “celebrating the faithfulness of our God”.

The President urged Ghanaians not to engage in divisive and negative tendencies to undermine the nation’s democratic dispensation that has earned the country an enviable image across the African continent.

He commended the Presbyterian Church for a positive role they play in national development especially in the health and education sectors, and urged the church to do more to complement the efforts of government at building the nation.

The President reminded Ghanaians to pray earnestly for peace to prevail in the coming December polls.

Reverend Samuel Kwame Mensah, the Tema District Minister of the Presbyterian Church, paid glowing tribute to the founding fathers of the church for their vision, foresight and commitment to the growth and development of the church.

Reverend Mensah advised politicians to engage in healthy campaigns and avoid the politics of insults.

Nii Adjei Kraka, Tema Mantse, lauded the Prince of Peace Presbyterian Church for its contribution in education for the area.

Members of the church who have distinguished themselves in the last 50 years of its existence were honoured.
