NDP denies tax evasion allegation against Konadu

The Public Relations Officer of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Dr. Hilarious Abbiw, has denied reports that the former first lady’s nomination forms were rejected for non-payment of taxes.

There are reports in the media that the EC disqualified Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings for failing to pay taxes on all the incomes she earns in the country.

Dr. Abbiw said persons making such allegations should come out and prove it desist from dragging the former First Lady’s name in the mud.

Meanwhile, the party says it is dragging the Electoral Commission to court for rejecting the nomination forms of the party’s Flagbearer Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings.

The former first lady’s nomination forms to contest the December Polls were rejected by the EC last Thursday for failing to satisfy all the requirements.

The party which is not satisfied with the action by the EC had threatened to contest the polls.

Public Relations Officer of the party, Dr. Hilarious Abbiw told XYZ News that the National Executive Committee of the NDP is still at a loss as to why Nana Konadu’s nominations forms were rejected and is heading for the court today to seek explanations.

“Our position remains that we are unaware of the specific reasons for which the Electoral Commission disqualified Nana Konadu. We’re at a loss as to the disqualification of Nana Konadu,” he stated.
