My position on ballot paper insignificant – Akufo-Addo

New Patriotic Party flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo has described as immaterial, the impact that Friday’s balloting by the Electoral Commission is likely to have on his chances of winning the December elections.

The ruling National Democratic Congress and its candidate, incumbent President John Mahama secured the number one position on the ballot paper after the balloting, with Great Consolidated Popular Party and its leader Dr. Henry Lartey obtaining the second position.

The NPP and Nana Akufo-Addo were placed third, while Progressive People’s Party’s Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom occupied the fourth position.

The United Front Party, People’s National Convention and Conventions People’s Party will appear fifth and sixth respectively, whereas the Independent candidate, Jacob Osei Yeboah occupied the button spot.

Speaking in reaction to the outcome of the balloting to Joy News Benjamin Tetteh in Sunyani where he is rounding off his tour, Nana Addo maintained that “so long as I am on the ballot sheet, that is most important.”

“Last time I was number one, but Prof. Mills was number three and won, this time I am number three and hopefully I will win,” he said.

He recalled how former President Kufuor then opposition leader won the 2000 elections from the bottom.

The NPP flagbearer said what was significant is the message they are carrying to the people and how they are responding to the message.

Nana Akufo-Addo said he was “very happy where we are at this stage of the campaign,” and will not relent on the hard work he and his team are doing to ensure they wrestle power from the NDC.

Nana Addo is rounding off his tour of Brong Ahafo region where he has been preaching his message of “restoring hope to the Ghanaian” if voted in December 2012.
