Juaso Circuit Court remands highway robbery suspect into prison custody

A suspected member of a highway robbery gang has been remanded into prison custody by the Juaso Circuit Court.

Sian Kuusore and his colleagues were said to have blocked the Yawkwei-Juaso stretch of the Kumasi-Accra highway on October 5, at about 0300 hours, to rob travelers.

The police received information and quickly moved in to foil the attempt.

Kuusore is charged with attempting to commit crime.

His plea was not taken and would re-appear on Friday, October 19.

Chief Inspector Osei Kwame told the court presided over by Justice Alex Asante Obeng that, the gang had attacked a Wa-bound Yutong bus, the first vehicle to have arrived at the road block.

A police escort on the bus engaged them in a firefight, forcing them to flee into the bush.

Kuusore was later found in the bush and arrested.
