Woman Burnt To Death

A 64-year-old woman, Afia Fofie died gruesomely after she was allegedly burnt by her killers who are still on the run.

The deceased, a trader and native of Kuntenase who resided at Atonsu Bokuro near Kumasi, got missing on Sunday.

Her body was later found on an orange farm at Akokote four days later in a decomposed state.

Madam Fofie reportedly left the house around 4pm last Sunday to retrieve her money from some people.

The relatives, who made several radio announcements, mounted a search for her.

But her body was found under a tree on an orange farm belonging to a man at Akokote, near Kuntenase in the Bosomtwe District on Thursday.

Mallam Yahaya, who was at the scene, said the farmer became alarmed upon discovering the burnt body so he rushed to inform the chief of Akokote.

The chief then on reported the matter to the police, who found torchlight, sandals and clothes of the deceased.

Mallam Yahaya said the decomposed body emanated stench on Thursday.

He said the children of deceased identified their mother by her sandals and clothes which were half burnt.

The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) morgue for autopsy.

According to reports, Madam Fofie was captured by some people who were using a private car at Atonsu Bokuro.

The hoodlums reportedly killed the deceased on the farm possibly for voodoo purposes after which they burnt her body to ashes.

In a related development, the paper gathered that the police had intensified their search for the killers of the 64-year-old woman.
