NDP General Secretary Mamboa-Rockson resigns

The interim General Secretary of the newly formed National Democratic Party, (NDP) Dr. Mamboa-Rockson has resigned.

According to him, he decided to resign from the NDP because President John Mahama has managed to unify and brought a lot of hope to the NDC since the demise of President Mills.

Announcing his resignation, he said the NDP was formed as an alternative party to the NDC due to the level indiscipline, corruption and weak leadership that existed under the late President Mills administration.

Dr. Mamboa-Rockson’s resignation comes a day ahead of the party’s national delegates Congress scheduled for Kumasi in the Ashanti region to elect its flagbearer.

Dr. Mamboa-Rockson announced his resignation in Tamale together with other executives of the party.

He accused the former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings of micro-managing the party and overruling decisions taken by executives of the party.

This is the second high profile resignation to hit the NDP after Dr. Ofei Agyemang also resigned from the party.

Meanwhile, the entire block of the Upper East regional executives have resigned and rejoined the NDC.

According to them “they have come to the realization that they were misled to join the NDP and it has become clear that the NDP was just formed for the purpose of destroying the NDC by the former first lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings”.

But the Youth Leader of the party, Dr. Sunu in an interview with Joy FM said the party is yet to receive any notice of the resignation by Dr. Mamboa-Rockson and other executives of the party.
