Muslims urged to vote for people with leadership qualities

The Magajia (women’s leader) of the Eastern Regional Zongo Caucus, an affiliate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hajia Salamatu Abu has advised Muslims to vote for people with good leadership qualities.

She said some political parties had eight years rule but did not do enough for Muslims, but within three and half years, the NDC provided a Hajj village with modern facilities to enable Muslims to fulfill one of the major pillars of Islam.

She said currently Muslims in the Northern part of the country performing the Hajj could check-in at Tamale Airport and fly to Accra on transit to Saudi Arabia.

Hajia Salamatu Abu said such an achievement alone was sufficient for Muslims to realize that when its mandate was renewed, the NDC could do more to support them and residents of the Zongos.

She, therefore, appealed to the Muslim community to renew the mandate of the NDC and pray for God’s wisdom, strength and blessing to President John Dramani Mahama to guide him to win the election to be able to do more to support the Islamic faith and all religions in the country.

Hajia Salamatu Abu was reacting to a call on Muslims to vote for a party with a Moslem Vice-President in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Koforidua on Wednesday.

She advised Muslims and people in the Zongo communities to vote according to performance and not campaign promises.

She urged them to vote for President Mahama, who could be trusted based on performance and not on the fact that a person is a Muslim.
