‘Galamsey’ operators Invade Bui National Park

Reports indicate that some illegal miners also known as ‘galamsey’ operators have maneuvered their way into the Bui National Park in the Brong-Ahafo Region where they are mining all sorts of minerals at the National reserve.

The situation has compounded challenges of poaching and other anti-wildlife activities which are hampering the conservation of wildlife for sustainable benefits.

Speaking to the Media on the sidelines of the Brong-Ahafo Regional commemoration of the World Tourism Day at the Bui Camp, the Assistant Park Manager, Paul Derry stated that, the emerging ‘galamsey’ phenomenon at the Bui National Park is a massive threat to animals such as the chameleon and tortoise.
