Three constables interdicted for inmate’s death

Three constables have been interdicted in connection with the death of an inmate in the custody of the Sofoline Police in Kumasi in the Ashanti region.

The constables who were detailed to arrest the inmate, Kwame Nyamekye, allegedly brutalized him to death after he resisted arrest last week.

The family of the deceased has been pleading for justice since Kwame’s death.

Public Relations Officer of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, ASP Mohammed Tanko in an interview with XYZ News said even though investigation has been difficult some progress is being made.

“Three constables who were detailed to make the arrest have been arrested to pave way for investigations.

“There would a post mortem examination and that would assist us to know what exactly happened” ASP Tanko said.
