Police to prosecute alleged ‘bribe-taking’ officer

The Police has opened investigations into the conduct of Corporal Victor Jeremiah Gaisie, who was arrested in Tema for allegedly taking bribes from prospective recruits into the police service.

Corporal Gaisie of the Buffalo Unit of the Tema Police Command is also said to have forged letters and signatures of the Director-General of Human Resources of the service and given it to the victims for onward submission for training.

Narrating the circumstances leading to the arrest of Corporal Gaisie, Acting Public Affairs Director of the Ghana Police Service, DSP Cephas Arthur, told XYZ News about seven young ladies who went to the Police Training School last Saturday with documents indicating that they were to report for training.

“Because of the stringent measures that we have put in place, we were able to detect that they were not legitimate, prospective recruits. We therefore checked their names against the master list that we have and it proved negative,” he said.

He said after preliminary investigations, the police realised that it was from the said Corporal Gaisie who was subsequently arrested.

DSP Cephas Arthur told XYZ News the Corporal has been remanded in custody and will be processed for court if there are indications of criminality involved.
