Caterpillar driver fined for causing accident

The circuit court at Juaso in Ashanti has imposed a fine of GH¢360.00 on a driver, for abandoning a faulty caterpillar at an unsafe portion of the road, resulting in an accident.

Joseph Oppong was charged for leaving a faulty vehicle at a dangerous position without placing advance warning triangle on it.

Police Inspector Mannaseh Obimpeh told the court presided over by Justice S.K. Sarpong Appiah that the convict on May 24, at about 1800 hours, abandoned a faulty caterpillar at Asankare on the Accra-Kumasi road.

Insp. Obimpeh said at about 2300 hours the same day, a fuel tanker from Kumasi to Accra run into the caterpillar and caught fire.
