The Informer has been receiving a lot of calls from Muslim elders, opinion leaders and ordinary Muslims about the call by the National Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Moctar Bamba, that Muslims should not vote for the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Moctar Bamba’s warped logic is that, because the NDC ticket has no Muslim, no Muslim should vote the NDC. Many of them felt that Bamba was indirectly insulting them that they, the Muslims only vote on religious basis.
They held the view that, if Muslims were voting on religious basis like the NPP National Organizer wants the world to believe, then the 1996 NDC ticket of ex-President Jerry John Rawlings and the late President John Evans Atta Fiifi Mills, wouldn’t have won the 1996 presidential elections convincingly . The Muslims said that Moctar Bamba should render unqualified apology to all Muslims or else, they would advise themselves.
For the records: The Informer wishes to remind readers that, it is the same Bamba, who as a Minister of State under the Kufuor presidency, used Kufuor’s Castle letterhead for visa racketeering.
