Nkawie circuit court remands two for alleged robbery

Two unemployed young men, who allegedly robbed three traders at Sepaase in the Atwima Nwabiagya District have been remanded into prison custody by the Nkawie circuit court.

Thomas Boakye and Jafaro Boakye are facing charges of conspiracy and robbery.

They both pleaded innocent and were ordered to re-appear on Friday, September 7.

Chief Inspector Philip Jagri told the court presided over by Justice Frank Owusu Afriyie that the accused attacked and robbed the victims, Patricia Nkrumah, Faustina Boahen and Afua Tiwaa on the night of May 8.

Patricia was returning to the house from Kumasi after the close of business when the two, armed with cutlasses, forcibly seized her hand bag containing an amount of GH¢1,000.00, cellular phone and half-piece of wax print.

They later attacked Faustina and Tiwaa in their houses and made away with their cellular phones.

The prosecution said the accused run out of luck when Thomas attempted to sell one of the phones to one George Sarfo whose wife, a friend to Patricia, easily identified it as that of the victim’s stolen phone.

Thomas was quickly arrested and handed over to the police.

During interrogation, he said the phones were given to him for sale by Jafaro, whose room, the police retrieved Patricia’s stolen hand bag during a search.
