President Mahama endorses the use of effective crisis management

President John Dramani Mahama on Thursday appealed to members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to adopt effective measures of managing all disagreements within the party before the 2012 general election.

“In a party like any other human organization there are bound to be disagreements, but we need to adopt a workable way of managing such disagreements,” he said.

President Mahama said this during the Special Delegates’ Congress of the NDC in Kumasi which is also expected to endorse him as the presidential candidate for the December election.

The special congress became necessary following the death of President John Evans Atta Mills who was elected the presidential candidate of the party.

President Mahama pledged to patch up all cracks in the party especially with the Founder, former President Jerry John Rawlings.

He called on the party hierarchy to work hard to heal all the wounds of disgruntled members and to forge ahead to win the 2012 elections to consolidate some of the policies initiated by late President Mills.

President Mahama particularly appealed to former President Rawlings to join the rank and file of the party to regain its formidability.

He also advised party supporters to exhibit high level of decorum and decency in their daily campaign activities.

“NDC is a peaceful party and you all need to campaign peacefully to send the message out that elections are not about insults”.

President Mahama said the elections would be “one touch” victory for the NDC and called on members and supporters of the party to be “vigilant and not violent”.

Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur paid tribute to former President John Jerry Rawlings, late President John Atta Mills and John Dramani Mahama for appointing him as the Deputy Minister, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana and Vice President respectively.

He said although the party went through turbulent times, members would work hard to achieve all the goals that were set up by the late President Mills.
