Fulani Herdsman murdered at Agogo Afram Plains

A 45 year-old Fulani Herdsman is said to have been murdered by unknown assailants who chopped off his head at the Agogo Afram Plains area in the Ashanti Region.

The deceased, who was identified as Osmanu Barugu, was shot while his cattle were grazing near the Chenchenku Mountain where the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) had earlier this year relocated the Herdsmen following a court order to evict them.

No arrest has so far been made despite efforts by the Police to bring the culprits to book.

A combined team of Police and the Military on Monday retrieved the headless body which has been deposited at the Agogo Presbyterian Hospital Morgue for autopsy.

It is not clear what might have prompted the shooting but information gathered by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) indicates that there have been series of shooting incidence in the area between the herdsmen and some indigenes.

The Agogo District Police Commander, DSP Tinkorang, when contacted confirmed the incident but declined to give details.

Following the incident, security in the area has been augmented as tension between the Herdsmen and residents rises.
