Alhaji Aliu Mahama, former Vice President of Ghana, on Saturday noted that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) policy of bringing free education from the primary to the senior high level was in the right direction.
He said Ghana’s educational sector was collapsing gradually and urged Ghanaians to vote for Nana Akufo-Addo in order to make the policy successful.
Former Vice President Mahama was addressing party faithful at the launch of the NPP’s 2012 electioneering campaign at Mantse Agbonaa in Accra.
He said the agricultural sector, the backbone of the economy, was collapsing, adding that fertilizers, insecticides and other agricultural machinery were expensive and farmers could not afford.
Former Vice President Mahama said Ghanaians were suffering under the Government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and appealed to the electorate to vote the NPP back into power to improve their standards of living.
He said this was the time for Ghanaians to give Nana Akufo-Addo and his team the chance to save the country from corruption.
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, NPP’s Vice Presidential Candidate, pledged that the party would implement a Zongo fund for the development of zongo communities in the country and appealed to electorate to vote for the NPP to develop Ghana.
He said NPP government would stabilize the cedi, reduce the high cost of doing business, pursue policies and roll-out prudent financial management that would ensure real fiscal discipline.
Dr Bawumia said the NPP would build a new economy where banks and other financial institutions would chase Ghanaians for loans and other services.
